On behalf of everyone in the Wellingborough CLP, We would like to extend our solidarity and support to Angela Rayner, and our unanimous condemnation of the disgusting, vulgar, and shameful reporting targeting her. She is a credit to the party, an inspiration to countless women, and deserves to be judged on her ability, proficiency, and skill as a talented mp, and not by physical attributes.
We welcome the actions of Sir Lindsay Hoyle in summoning the editor of the Mail on Sunday as well as the chair of the Press Lobby and hope that a swift and conclusive resolution is found on the matter.
However what this article highlights is how much work is still yet to be done in overturning such antiquated attitudes towards women in politics, even now in the 21st century.
Politics isn’t always the friendliest of environments for women to participate in, and such disrespectful treatment of a prominent female MP, will only offer more discouragement and deter women from political involvement.

Clearly, Angela has struck a nerve, and long may she continue to provide effective opposition.
